The legal team for the Second Respondent, President Akufo-Addo on Thursday lifted their voices in praise to God Almighty following the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision to dismiss the 2020 election petition filed by former President John Mahama.

The 7-member panel of Justices at about midday today, unanimously ruled that the election petition before the court be dismissed as it is without merit.

Also, the apex court denied the petitioner, John Mahama the request for a re-run of the 2020 Presidential elections.

Reacting to the Justices’ decision, the lawyers of President Akufo-Addo at the premises of the Supreme Court in unison raised their white handkerchiefs and sang some songs praising God for the victory won today.

The lawyers also chanted the name of President Akufo-Addo to signify his victory.

Speaking to the press after the judgement, Frank Davies thanked the media for its support and helping to bring the trial to the doorsteps of all Ghanaians.

He urged all persons to support the court’s decision and also admonished the petitioner to seek legal redress should he disagree with the Justices of the Supreme Court.

“We pray that Ghanaians should accept the rendition of the Supreme Court in the supreme interest of justice so that the governance of the country can continue in these challenging times. We have Covid-19 to confront.

"His Excellency should be given all the support together with his ministers and parliamentarians, political appointees and cabinet functionaries to manage and run the machinery of the state," he said.

Meanwhile, former President John Mahama has promised to address the nation at 5:00 pm today from his office in Cantonments following the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss his 2020 election petition.
