The National Ramadan Conference has announced the 2021 Ramadan fasting in a communiqué issued at the 27th Annual Conference in Sunyani, Bono Region.
It indicated that it expects Sha’ban on Monday, April 12 but if missed, the next day shall be applied to become the 30th day making April 14th the first day of Ramadan 2021.
“The first day for the sighting of the moon shall start on Monday, April 12, of 2021, when Sha’ban shall be 29 days. If sighted, Tuesday, April 13 becomes the first day of Ramadan 2021.
“If not sighted, Tuesday, April 13 becomes 30th day of Sha’ban. Therein Wednesday, April 14 shall be the first day of Ramadan 2021,” the communique said.

At the sub-committee, the Conference secretary, Ghazali Yakun called for a strong condemnation of the activities of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transgender (LGBT), describing their acts as an abomination in Islam.
He said such acts should be stamped out of the system, as Muslims frown against it.
“We, Muslims in Ghana vehemently condemn the act seriously frown against it since this is against the norms of the natural course of mind and bodily sexual gratification.

“Islam, therefore, declares it as an abomination and should therefore be summarily stamped out of the system.”
In a 7-point statement, the national body called on the Ghana Health Service to intensify education to clear the misconceptions surrounding the Covid-19 vaccines.
“It has also become necessary for the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to do a serious advocacy on the urgent need to attach a great deal of importance to the vaccination for prevention and management of the inherent danger of the pandemic.”
Stressing on other national issues, it also encouraged Muslims to attach a great deal of importance to the 2021 population and housing census and “come out in their numbers to be counted.
“This will help the central and local governments in planning various educational, health, housing and other social services,” it said.
Noting the various accidents in recent times, the sub-committee advised road users to abide by all rules and regulations binding the use of the road to prevent further loss of lives.
