Nigerian RnB star, Praiz has echoed the need for African musicians to use their music to effect change in society.
the second runner-up at the maiden season of Project Fame West Africa says in as much as musicians will like to create songs that people will love and agree with, they must also address social issues and encourage progress in society.
Speaking on E Vibes show, Praiz mentioned that such positive stories could range from "corruption, it could be xenophobia, and I mean a musician should be able to do it," he said.
The musician told Becky that music is one of the easiest way to pass information and must be used accordingly.
"Music is very spiritual and one of the easiest to pass on messages .I also feel it’s the responsibility of a musician to actually speak the mind of the masses because we are privilege to be in a position where a lot of people listen to what we say and sing, so it’s easier for us to say this is not right or vice versa and sing about what’s happening to cause a change,” he added.
He cited Fela Kuti, 2Face Idibia and Burna Boy as some of the artistes who have charted a similar path, for which reason he is poised to emulate.
With over 70 songs and 2 albums to his credit, Praiz has also collaborated with the likes of Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Sefa and is currently working on a record with Kwesi Arthur.
E Vibes is a weekly programme that delves into the background of the country’s celebrated personalities who are doing tremendous work in their chosen field of work cutting across sectors.
