The Ghana Medical Association (GMA), has condemned the superspreader event organized recently by the Christ Embassy Church, asking for the states security agencies to ensure a swift prosecution of all persons responsible for what they term "unlawful" and "reckless".
The event dubbed 'Pneumatica Night 2021' was organised by the youth wing of Christ Embassy Church at the Fantasy Dome, Accra by the Christ Embassy Church and saw thousands of people worshipping without face masks and disregarding the social distancing protocols.
In a press statement, Tuesday, the GMA called on the Attorney General’s Department and the Ghana Police Service to expedite action on the said matter.
It further added that the organisers and attendees, if found culpable, should face the full wrath of the law to serve as a deterrence to others.
"The GMA strongly condemns this behaviour by the leadership, organisers and members of the Christ Embassy Church, Ghana. Their unlawful act will set a bad example for others to follow if it goes unpunished. A swift prosecution is needed to serve as a deterrent to all,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the group has admonished all and sundry to strictly adhere to all Covid-19 protocols adding that, “we cannot continue to risk our lives as health workers while such impunity and reckless disregard for the Covid-19 prevention protocols and laws go unchecked by the State”.
