The Institute of Internal Auditors said it is committed to sharing insights that will provoke positive change and innovation within organizations.
According to Chairman of Research and Publications at the institute, Ebenezer Omari-Mireku, the institute also seeks to improve its effectiveness of risk management, internal control and government processes.
He made these comments when the Institute launched the month of May as internal audit awareness month.
“The role of auditors is to provide assurance on the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, internal control, and governance processes.
Sharing insights that help provoke positive change (or transformation) and innovation within organizations, president of the Institute of Internal Auditors Ghana, Daniel Quampah stated that the awareness month seeks to sensitize the general public about the work of auditors and other myths associated with the profession.
“The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) supports efforts to raise awareness of the internal audit profession and its value. The aim is not only to dispel myths of the profession but to enhance the business community’s knowledge of the essential role internal auditing plays in strong governance, internal control, and effective risk management.’
“When management and boards of directors come to fully appreciate the value of internal auditing, they ensure that the internal audit activity is appropriately placed, adequately resourced and effectively utilized”, he noted.
Some activities have been lined up throughout the awareness month including a free webinar for internal auditors on “quality assurance”.
