The Bank of Ghana has officially licensed Ghanaian owned Obsidian Achernar and other 17 other firms to be the primary dealers of government bonds.
The appointment follows the invitation by the Finance Ministry for banks and other financial agencies to apply to be dealers and Bond Market Specialists (BMSs).
Obsidian Achernar is currently the only brokerage firm that has been approved by the Central Bank to operate as a primary dealer and FX Broker.
Other established dealers who were listed include Absa Bank, Stanbic Bank and Standard Chartered.
