The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu on Wednesday, clashed with the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu over which political party has the competent men to steer the affairs of the country due to the delayed appointments and constitution of statutory bodies.
According to the Minority Leader, the failure of President Akufo-Addo to constitute boards of corporations has grounded activities at state-owned enterprises.
He also questioned why the President has delayed the appointments of officials to steer the affairs of eight statutory funds.
These are the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Road Fund, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), Petroleum-Related Funds, Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and the Social Security and National Insurance Trust.
The development, Haruna Iddrisu said is affecting contractors to meet their obligations to suppliers and asked the president to urgently constitute such boards if the NPP has the men as they claimed.
But the Majority Leader, Mensah-Bonsu who in principle agreed with his colleagues the Minority on the delay in constituting boards of board statutory bodies, however said leadership must dialogue over the matter.
He insisted that the NPP have the men and the women when it comes to good governance in the country.
