North Macedonia are currently living the dream, booking a place in the Euros for the first time in their history. But, the journey was not straightforward as they had to go all the way to the playoffs to make the Euros dream a reality. They won the play-off Path D by beating Georgia 1-0.
For Austria, the road was a bit less complicated, securing their place by placing second behind Poland in Group G. This will be their second consecutive appearance in the competition after playing in the 2016 edition.
Both teams are yet to taste silverware and will hope to overcome huge obstacles to make history.
An easy win expected for Austria
Austria have a more potent squad as compared to their upcoming opponents which is led by new Real Madrid signing David Alaba. The former Bayern Munich man has served as a defensive player for his former club over the years but is deployed in a more offensive role at Austria due to his technical ability.
Marco Arnautovic has also been a reliable player over the years, making 88 appearances for his country and scoring 26 goals, the highest in the squad.
North Macedonia can count on the experience of Goran Pandev who featured for Inter Milan earlier in his career. Austria are averaging 3 goals a game against North Macedonia and there could be another bloodbath. Austria win and over 2.5 should serve investors well.
The odds
Austria are favorites to win this tie. They have been priced by Betway at 1.62 and North Macedonia have been priced at 5.69. In their last two meetings, both teams have scored at least one goal each. Betway has priced the odds for both teams scoring at 2.18.
