Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has admitted a motion filed by seven Minority MPs, demanding a bi-partisan Committee to probe procurement of Covid-19 vaccines.
The NDC MPs want Parliament to investigate the procurement contracts between the Government of the Republic of Ghana and Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum for the supply of Sputnik-V Covid-19 vaccines.
They added that the report must be submitted to the House for consideration.
The MPs who are demanding probe are Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, Minority Chief Whip, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, Minority spokesperson on Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
The others are the Minority Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for Daffiama/Bussie/Issa, Dr Sebastian Ngmenenso Sandaare, Nabdam MP, Dr Mark Kurt Nawaane and MP for Ashaiman, Ernest Henry Norgbey.
“That this Honourable House constitutes a bi-partisan Committee to investigate the procurement contracts between the Government of the Republic of Ghana and Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum and one other for the supply of Sputnik-V Covid-19 vaccines and submit a report for the consideration of the House.”
The motion which has been advertised on today’s order paper is expected to be laid before the House for consideration.
