A 48-year-old man who shot and killed his partner at Asuofua Asamang in the Ashanti Region over the threat of divorce has died.
Bashiru Naniyabi died hours after being rushed to the hospital for attempting to commit suicide.
He is believed to have taken in a poisonous substance minutes after committing the heinous crime.
Bashiru Naniyabi shot and killed 39-year-old Ama Vida on Monday night in the presence of his four children.
The daughter of the deceased lady, Comfort Kulani, could not hold back her tears as she narrated what she saw before her mother's death.
Daniel Laari, a brother to Vida, says the couple settled their relationship challenges before the man carried out the act.
Bashiru was arrested by the police at Asuofua but later sent to the hospital for treatment. Police say the man took a poisonous substance after the shooting.
He died at the Asuofua government hospital.
Station officer Chief Inspector Ebenezer Offei says the deceased's body has been deposited at the KATH mortuary.
