The Deputy Chief Executive (Services) VRA, Dr. Irene Stella Agyenim-Boateng has declared that the debate is no longer about whether HR is a science or an art, but is both a science and an art.
She said this at the just ended L’AINE HR interactive session that took place on Friday, September.
The event, organised by HR Focus was themed “HR Leadership for Organisational and People Development” and saw up to over 150 HR Practitioners attending.
In her keynote address, she highlighted various ways in which HR Practitioners can serve the interest of business leaders.
She said, “As HR Leaders, not only should you know what your business is about, but you also need to consider increased revenue and reduced cost in order to present strategic solutions to your organisation. Technology rules the world but it is people who make it happen.”
She further stressed on the need for leaders to imbibe the skill of situational leadership and avoid adapting to just one leadership style.
Also speaking at the L’AINE HR Interactive was the Chief Executive (CE) of L’AINE Services, Dr. Ellen Hagan.
She said, “Leadership, as we should all know is a mindset and lifestyle. It is our corporate responsibility to raise the bar and ensure that the HR profession is taken seriously in business. In today’s modern world, strategic HR in leadership is the way to go.”
Other distinguished HR practitioners in the persons of: Mr. Hussein Edward Abugri, Regional HR and Projects Manager, Newmont Ghana and Rev. Emmanuel Afriyie Amoako, HR Business Partner, Enterprise Insurance & Enterprise Properties; also contributed to the conversation through an engaging panel discussion where practical solutions were proffered for day-to-day problems that are faced by HR Practitioners.
Hussein Edward Abugri reiterated the need to understand the business of one’s organisation. He said, “The HR practitioner must be a marketer, marketing the company and its products. He or she must also take everyone’s opinions into consideration.”
In addressing the concept of Employer Branding, Rev. Emmanuel Afriyie Amoako said, “To build a good employer brand, you need to be an employer of choice”.
HR Focus Conference and Awards is the next big thing for HR Practitioners, and the Editor-In-chief of HR Focus Africa, Ewurabena Neequaye mentioned, “HR Focus as Ghana’s first and leading HR Magazine, organizes several platforms for shared learning and professional development for HR Practitioners”.
She further threw an invitation to attendants to attend the HR Focus Conference and Awards happening on the 14th and 15th of October 2021 respectively.
