Nominations have opened for the maiden edition of the Ghana Ladies in Tech Awards (GLiT) 2021.
The awards ceremony, which was launched on Friday, September 10, 2021, has been devised to celebrate outstanding female efforts and achievements in the tech ecosystem. In just a few weeks, entrants must nominate themselves or deserving females to be recognized by heading over to www.ghanaladiesintech.com/glit-award for all nomination information.
The award is an initiative of Ghana Ladies in Tech under the pathways to sustainable employment project, a project implemented by Ghana Tech Lab with funding from Mastercard Foundation, World Bank, and support from the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation Ghana.
Ghana Ladies in Tech have been empowering young female entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts through partner hubs in Ghana. The community has local sub ladies in tech communities across the country that runs varied events from mentorship sessions to training programs and support initiatives to enhance female participation in the tech ecosystem.
This year, the community instituted the Glit Awards to recognize and reward women entrepreneurs, innovators, and women in vocational fields who thrive and excel in their careers and businesses.
The Glit Awards 2021 comprise 27 categories; these include 16 awards by nomination, 10 by appointment, and the best innovative idea award.
The best innovative idea award is limited to ladies in the GLiT community and will be awarded after a pitch session on the day of the event.
Speaking about the event, Belinda Darkwa, the lead of the Ghana Ladies in Tech Community, stated, “We wanted to recognize, celebrate and reward female entrepreneurs and innovators in tech and to encourage other females in the space. We also want them to know that there is more for them to achieve in the tech space.”
The main event, Glit Summit and Awards 2021, will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 9 am inside the Accra Digital Centre.
