Many across the world are perturbed as three major social media platforms, WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram, all owned by Mark Zuckerberg have gone down.
"Visitors to the Facebook website simply saw an error page or a message that their browser could not connect. The WhatsApp and Instagram apps continued to work, but did not show new content, including any messages sent or received during the problems," an international media outlet reported.
To register their distress and communicate with one another, people have taken to Twitter.
Here in Ghana, many shared stories of how they recharged their data packages unaware such an initiative would not be productive and the high number of phone calls they have received in 4hours.
Nagging, sharing of images and memes of torture have been going on since 5PM today. One can attest that Twitter has been flooded with comments.
Despite the unfortunate incident, some have turned the worrisome situation into a satire, almost a tragicomedy. Twitter tweeted "Hello literally everyone" after the three platforms stopped functioning, appearing to tease all affected by the incident and a gentle reminder it remains active.
The question on all minds is "What time will these apps start working again?"
Meanwhile, according to Bloomberg, "the outages at Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram occurred because of a problem in the company’s domain name system, a crucial component of the internet."

I have restarted the phone many times and have even lost count. Just to hear a friend saying that WhatsApp is down.
Whatsapp down has made me receive the most calls in my life today.

WhatsApp. Please it’s okay. Don’t worry. Or bother to fix it. Even as we were shouting fix the country our president of Ghana didn’t mind us. See how he’s saying WhatsApp should fix their service 😂
