The Human Rights Division of the Accra High Court has adjourned the case in which some 143 aggrieved LLB holders were denied admission into the Ghana Law School to November 9, 2021.
The defendants are the General Legal Council (GLC) and the Attorney General.
The case presided over by Justice Nicholas Mensah Abodakpi was adjourned because both counsels for the applicant and defendant requested that the court grant them some time to file specific processes.
The Attorney General asked for a short time to file specific processes when the case was called in court today.
Lawyer for the Applicant, Martin Kpebu and Counsel for the General Legal Council, Nana Yaw Ntrekwah, assented for a short time to be given.
Justice Abodakpi indicated that “with the consent of the parties and their lawyers, this case would be adjourned to November 9, 2021.”
Assistant State Attorney, Patricia Ayirebe Acquah told the court that the Applicant and the 1st Respondent have agreed to an adjournment.
Only 142 students showed up in court today rather than the 499 students expected.
Martin Kpebu told the court that they will be filing supplementary responses once they are served with the AG’s processes.
The 143 LLB graduates who are part of 499 law students claim to have passed the law school entrance exam but were failed by the Ghana School of Law.
In the suit, they are praying the court to compel the Ghana School of Law to offer them admission into the Ghana School of Law for the 2021/22 academic year.
The students claim in their writ that their fundamental human rights have been violated by the regulatory body.
