Ghanaian highlife act, Kuami Eugene has released an extended play to promote a new crop of music he calls Afro-Highlife.
The genre is a mix of authentic Ghanaian highlife music and the continental African sound, afrobeats. It is meant to be the new sound to further uphold Ghanaian music.
Bunker crooner says, “I want to imbibe in the minds of Ghanaians that we can merge both highlife and afrobeat and not promote just one genre”.
He says, “The afrobeat genre is dominant now and it will not be a bad idea if we can attach highlife to it to put Ghanaian music on the African market”.

Kuami Eugene says he would want to start Afro-highlife and be associated with it as acts like Reggie Rockstone are associated with Hiplife and others to highlife.
The EP titled ‘Afro-Highlife’, has five songs including the hit-track, Bunker, as well as Fire Fire, Shake, Demigod and Te Na Fie.
The Rockstar held an EP listening session at the Basement in Kumasi and revealed the motive for the agenda he is setting.
Kuami Eugene has also released visuals for lead tune “Te Na Fie” off the extended play.
The traditional highlife tune talks about enjoying one’s self once there is life. It also says people who are not willing to go out should stay home.
All songs on the extended play were produced by Kuami Eugene himself with the exception of Te Na Fie with assistance from Richie Mensah, George Darko and Afro Harmony Band.
