Roma has announced that the COVID-19 outbreak within the club is spreading, as forward Felix Afena-Gyan has tested positive.
The Coronavirus has taken hold within the Giallorossi camp, as Bryan Cristante and Gonzalo Villar tested positive last week.
Now Afena-Gyan, the teenage youth team player who shot to fame with a brace to beat Genoa 2-0, has also contracted the virus.
It means he will be out of tomorrow’s Serie A clash with Bologna.
A statement from Roma confirms Gyan has been vaccinated and is isolating at home.
The teenager also went viral when coach Jose Mourinho kept the promise to buy him an expensive pair of sneakers as a reward for scoring his debut Serie A goal.
There has been a spate of recent COVID cases in Serie A, including Matteo Politano and Diego Demme at Napoli.
Although the vaccine makes it less likely players will contract the virus and does make symptoms much less severe, it cannot completely guarantee they will not test positive.
L’#ASRoma comunica che, in seguito a un controllo svolto attraverso un tampone molecolare, il calciatore Felix Afena-Gyan, vaccinato, è risultato positivo al COVID-19.
