Minority Chief Whip, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has said that the Minority is determined to bring finality to doubts over the presence or otherwise of Sarah Adwoa Safo in Parliament on November 30, to contribute to the business of the House.

Contributing to discussions on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, Muntaka Mubarak indicated that the issue will be conclusively dealt with in no time.

'Very soon, we'll get to know whether Adwoa Safo was in the house yesterday or not', Muntaka Mubarak remarked.

On November 30, Parliament convened to deliberate on the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy. The business of the day was without the members of the Minority Group, who refused to appear in the Chamber.

However, after the close of proceedings, allegations were rife that the MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo was impersonated by an unknown lady in a face mask, presumed to be her relative.

The allegations gained prominence on social media, with many calling for the matter to be probed.

Commenting on the issue, MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, mentioned on the Joy FM Super Morning Show that, the Minority has taken interest in the matter and would initiate a probe accordingly.

According to Mr. Ablakwa, Adwoa Safo was not in the House during the proceedings of Parliament on November 30.

However, amidst the brewing controversy, the MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo arrived in Parliament on Wednesday without a nose mark, triggering cheers from her colleague Majority MPs.

Commenting on the controversy about her absence, Ms. Safo affirmed that she was indeed present, and called for the allegations to be dismissed.

“Mr Speaker, this is a House of record and as the former Deputy Majority Leader of this House, I was present in this House yesterday,” she told first Deputy Speaker Joseph Osei-Owusu who presided over Wednesday’s sitting.

“That is an insult on womanhood so those making that noise, Mr Speaker should withdraw,” she stated.

Meanwhile, Parliament has resumed sitting, with the Minority calling for a rescission of the approval of the Budget by the Majority on November 30.
