History was made on Saturday December, 4 when the maiden edition of Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) Presidential Debate was held to the admiration of all stakeholders.
At the event, powered by Joy Entertainment, all three aspiring presidents of the Union, Henry Bessa Simons, Deborah Freeman and Ras Caleb Appiah Levi, shared their plans and ambitions.
The debate took place at the Labadi Beach Hotel.
This was by far, the most important event leading up to the January, 2022 elections, which will see an emerging winner replace Bice Osei Kuffuor, a.k.a 'Obuor' the outgoing MUSIGA President.
Some distinguished guests and industry players present at the debate were impressed by the initiative of Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z to create a platform for contenders of the highest office of MUSIGA, to clearly outline a well-developed road map towards giving the Union a more prestigious image, as well as prioritize the welfare of musicians.

During the debate, the audience was given the opportunity to spill their concerns and expectations.
Chairman of the Rastafari Council, Ahuma 'Daddy Bosco’ Ocansey, who was present at the event thanked Joy Entertainment for organizing the MUSIGA presidential debate, saying “it offers the people of Ghana an opportunity to know who is likely to lead the Union”.
Radio Presenter and Motivational Speaker OB Nartey also praised the team.
He opined “I think this is commendable. Kudos to Joy FM, you’ve done the needful”. An evening that saw dignitaries present to witness history, proved how imperative it is that MUSIGA finds its feet. A representative from Charterhouse said of the event, “let me just commend Joy FM for this solid platform and project."
The debate was moderated by host of Showbiz A-Z, George Quaye.
He presented all three contestants, Henry Bessa Simons, Deborah Freeman and Ras Caleb Appiah Levi a golden platform to convince electorates on why they’re the best option to occupy the presidential office at MUSIGA.
