The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will today, Wednesday, hold a public forum to discuss government's 2022 budget.
The forum dubbed "What the 2022 budget means for you as a Ghanaian," is scheduled to take place at 1pm.
Members of the party expected to moderate the forum are Ranking Member on Parliament's Committee on Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, Member of the Finance Committee in Parliament, Isaac Adongo and Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.
According to Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, government's fiscal policy statement for next year is an "Agyenkwa Budget," but the NDC believes this is far from the truth.
They say it is "Awudie Budget" and not one that will save Ghanaians from the economic hardships being felt in the country.
On December 6, the Finance Minister during a press briefing disclosed that some modifications have been made to the budget. This comes after some conditions set by the Minority to ensure the approval of the budget.
Government reviewed the Aker Energy transaction, Agyapa deal and an allocation of ¢10 million for Feasibility and Engineering studies for the coastal communities, including Keta and its environs that were recently affected by tidal waves.
However, Mr Ofori-Atta indicated that the proposed charges remain at 1.75%. The modifications of the 2022 Budget was later laid in Parliament on Tuesday, December 7.
Meanwhile, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament who is sitting as Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu, has directed that modifications made to the 2022 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of Government be made an attachment to the original budget.
