The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of defunct Unique Trust (UT) Bank, Captain Prince Kofi Amoabeng (Rtd), has shared some insights into what motivated him to write his book 'The UT Story: Humble Beginnings'.
He said one of the main reasons for writing the book is to leave a legacy for the younger generation and educate them on how to grow their businesses using the relevant channels.
The retired banker narrated how he used 15 years to explore different business ventures, including construction businesses, sawmill, being a vintner, being engaged in the oil business, among other profitable exploits.
He believes the book will offer the Ghanaian youth some moral lessons and teach them all the hidden realities about the Unique Trust (UT) Financial Services, despite the assertion that Ghanaians have poor reading attitude.
"It's always been on my mind to write. I know that they say Africans or Ghanaians don't read, but that's the only way of leaving a legacy for the next generation. You have to document your exploits and things like that."
"I got a friend of mine to sort of start interviewing me to put a book together, but at some point, we had to shelve it because the two of us didn't agree on some lines. I think it was a bit too opinionated, but I wanted a book that sticks to the fact," he indicated.
He also mentioned his former wife's role in unearthing that dream of writing a book.
"I think some 10 years ago, my ex-wife asked me if I'll write a book, and I looked at her and said, 'you want a paragraph of the book or something?'"
"Then, of course, when I left UT Bank before it was assumed some two years ago later, it came to me again but even before that, I wanted to write a book, but I wanted a book that has to be significant," he added.
