The Academic Affairs Directorate of the University of Ghana (UG) has announced that there will be a separate virtual graduation ceremony for eligible students whose names were missing from the graduation list.
In a statement to announce the decision, the University said it will process and promptly publish a supplementary list to contain all the missing names as soon as the necessary administrative quality assurance processes are undertaken.
“A separate virtual graduation ceremony will be performed for those on the supplementary pass lists,” the statement said.
The notice urged final year students whose names were missing from the graduation list to pick up their certificates once the process is completed.
The University further entreated final year students affected in this regard to bear with the University as outstanding graduation issues are resolved.
On Thursday, January 5, a total of 180 expected graduands from the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana petitioned the university’s management over the alleged non-inclusion of their names in the final list of graduands.
In a joint petition signed by the aggrieved students, they argued that per the regulations of the University of Ghana, all 180 of them have satisfied the requirements for graduation, and thus they do not understand why their names have not been included in the final graduation list published by the University.
The aggrieved students, therefore, called on the University authorities to promptly address their concerns.
