The Queen mother of the Nkawie-Abofrem traditional area in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region has commissioned a new medical centre to improve quality healthcare of the people.
The new facility, according to Nana Akosua Nkrumah Adasah is to help reduce birth complications and other health concerns within the cocoa farming community and beyond.
The facility named "Y3 Enya Woso H.F.P Medical Centre" is a 30-bed capacity.

Speaking to the media, Nana Akosua Nkrumah Adasah explained that some women in the community have lost their lives due to various health challenges.
"I built this health facility because of women. As a matter of fact, people were dying especially if women were going into labor, before they will get a car and go to Bibiani, they pass out and I can't take it anymore, and that is the reason why I did it," she said.

She called on government to immediately dispatch health personnel to the facility to begin serving the community.
The Queen mother also urged members of the community to maintain the facility in its current state so as to serve their needs for a long period of time.

On his part, Atwima Mponua District Health Director, Dr. Jojo Kwabena expressed gratitude to the Queen mother and pledged that the health service will provide equipment to ensure the facility starts operating.

Also, the District Chief Executive for Atwima Mponua, Isaac Kofi Marfo promised 200 bags of cement to complete the ongoing nurses quarters to accommodate the health workers.
According to him, the District Common Fund is not enough to undertake huge projects, hence the need for individuals and organisations to assist the community.
