Eight schools from the Upper East and North East Region converged at Bolgatanga to slug it out for an opportunity to represent both regions at the National Onga Cook art Competition.
Reigning regional champions Awe Senior High Technical School was confident they had what it takes to defend their title, but host school Zamse Senior High Technical School was determined to become the first school to host and win this year.

At the end of the first two rounds, Awe SHTS, Zamse SHTS and Bolgatanga Girls SHS sealed their dominance.
It was then time for the final lap of the contest, where judges to taste the meals contestants prepared and award marks.

At the end of the contest, a new regional champion emerged Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School came first with 73.5 per cent.
The entire auditorium was thrown into a frenzy as BOGISS fans could not hide their excitement following their victory.

For second place, there was a tie; Awe Senior High Technical School and Zamse Senior High Technical School both grabbed the position with 71.5 per cent.
Fumbisi Senior High Agric School led the pack from behind, taking the 8th position with 49 per cent. Amid tears, the contested promised a come back next year.

Each participant received souvenirs from lead sponsors Onga. In addition, the winning school Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School walked home with ¢1000 cash prize sponsored by the Ghana Education Service to aid in their preparations toward the national competition scheduled to kickstart in Kumasi on March 21.
