Social media users are reacting to what may appear to be "the greatest night in the history of television" as Will Smith brought down his fury on Chris Rock.
It was at the Oscars that Will Smith smacked the comedian on the face. This happened because Chris Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.
Will laughed but Pinkett Smith was not pleased with the joke as she rolled her eyes in displeasure. Briefly, Will approached Rock and landed a smack. Will after resuming his seat, told Rock not to make mention of his wife in his jokes.
Will's action has left celebrities and social media users dumfounded, with users divided over whether to describe his action as antagonistic or heroic.
Those in support of Will's action say it was inconsiderable of Rock to make fun of Picket's alopecia, an autoimmune disorder that leads to hair loss.
On the night of the incident, Jaden Smith in a tweet said "And that's how we do it." It is unclear if his tweet is in reaction to the incident, but users believe that is his take on his father's action.
For others, this unfortunate incident is just another opportunity to make satirical memes.
