Public Relations Officer for Charterhouse, Robert Klah, has mentioned that an artiste or individual can lose their nominee slot in the VGMA based on dishonesty.
This statement comes on the heels of issues that have sprung up following the nomination of singer Afriyie Wutah in the ‘Audio Engineer of the Year’ category.
Attention was brought to that category when music producer Wei Ye Oteng raised allegations that Afriyie Wutah was not entirely truthful about being the sound engineer of his song ‘Country Hot,’ and revealed that the veteran music producer, Appietus, engineered it.
The song, which has been nominated for the ‘Record of the Year’ in the same award scheme automatically earns the sound engineer of the song a slot in the Audio Engineer of the Year category.
This has however caused the VGMA Board to start an investigation into the matter.
According to Robert Klah, Afriyie Wutah stands to lose his slot in that category if found guilty of being dishonest with his filing.
“All information given to board to work with should be the truth. If anyone for any reason submits information that is not accurate intentionally may be stripped of anything that they have earned in that particular space.”
The ‘Audio Engineer of the Year’ is adjudged by the Board to be the sound engineer(s) directly responsible for the recording, mixing and technical production of the song adjudged as the record of the year.
This year, the likes of Francis Osei, Afriyie Wutah, Liquid Beatz, Jo Oware, Richie Mensah Chris V. Rootselaar & Jaap Wiewel were nominated.
