A majority-sided Parliament on March 29, approved the passage of the Electronic Transaction levy (E-levy) despite grievances from the Minority.
On March 31, President Akufo-Addo signed the E-levy Bill into law despite a suit against the Attorney-General by Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, and his colleagues Mahama Ayariga and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa at the Supreme Court over the approval of the levy.
According to Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, the implementation of the Levy may commence in May this year.
Today on JoyNews' Newsfile, host, Samson Lardy Anyenini, and his panelists found out what the approval and implementation of the levy means to Ghanaians.
Also, the show probed into the achievements chalked by President Akufo-Addo for the five years he has been in office.
Delivering the 2022 State of the Nation Address, the President revealed that his government has seen to the construction of some 10,875 kilometres of new roads.
Also, the President noted that government has spent a total of ¢17.7 billion in battling the Covid-19 pandemic since its emergence in 2020.
These submissions have been rejected by the Minority, who say the figures provided by the President are inaccurate.
