The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof Peter Twumasi is predicting smooth implementation of the electronic ticketing system introduced for the Kotoko-Hearts clash in Kumasi.
Some football fans have kicked against online sale of tickets as they express fear over implementation, citing challenges associated with the system during Ghana-Nigeria World Cup play-off match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
But the NSA boss tells LUV FM, he is confident the e-ticketing system will be used with minimal challenges.
Whilst admitting the likely challenges associated with the online ticket sales, he revealed steps have been taken to address challenges encountered during the Ghana-Nigeria match.
“For every system, especially when it’s new, you expect this,” he said.
“I am sure there had been a challenge with the school placement system at some point when we introduced the online placement system, I think there were some issues but when we generate all these kinds of responses which are a bit of weakness in the system, relatively to the successes, I think you realize that it was quite insignificant.
“However, these have been brought to our attention for example people were able to buy without any challenge but I think during the verification when they were to enter, few of them had issues but then, we were able to resolve them.”. He added.
“Now as we are getting back on this, we are going to improve the system in terms of the number of checkers that are going to be introduced at the facility is being doubled and we wouldn’t be expecting some of these backlogs.” Prof Twumasi assured.
