Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, has passed away.
The musician, known for her hit song ‘Ekwueme’ died on Friday, April 8, at a hospital in Abuja.
In an interview with Vanguard Nigeria, the elder sister of the late gospel music artiste dismissed reports indicating that she died of cancer.
Favour Made told the newspaper her sister died as a result of a cluster of blood in her chest after she was kicked in the area by her husband, Mr Peter Nwachukwu.
“The husband, Mr Peter Nwachukwu hit her with his leg on the chest…she fell down and he took her to the hospital but he did not even tell us. It was her friend who lives in Ebonyi state that called her twin sister."
According to Miss Made, Osinachi’s husband has been abusing her in their marriage before her untimely death.
“Before now, we told her to come out of the marriage, we told her that they are not divorcing, that it’s just separation. But she felt that God is against divorce,” Miss Made said.
She revealed that her family had advised Osinachi to separate from her husband and take care of herself and her children.
Osinachi, she added, always made her family aware that she believed her husband would change for the better.
Miss Made said that “he doesn’t allow us to come near Osinachi. Since Osinachi got married to him, she has never visited our village, Isuochi in Abia state.”
Meanwhile, in an interview with Daily Post, Police in Abuja revealed that Osinachi’s husband Peter Nwachukwu has been arrested.
The arrest the police noted was made after a family member lodged a complaint.
“The man, Peter Nwachukwu is currently in our custody. A family member of the deceased lodged a report for culpable homicide at Lugbe police station.”
“Following the complaint, we arrested the suspect and the investigation is currently ongoing. We will make findings public,” the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrest.
