Wife of former Information Minister, Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, is to be hauled before court Thursday for allegedly assaulting and obstructing a security officer from performing his duty.
Zuleika Asamoah-Boateng on June 17, 2009 reportedly struggled with officers of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) who went to the Kotoka International Airport to stop her husband from traveling outside the country.
She snatched her husband’s passport from one of the officers and yelled at the officers for violating her husband's rights.
A Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa hinted the woman could be prosecuted. “The BNI officers took a serious view of Mrs Asamoah-Boateng’s conduct,” he added.
The former Information Minister has confirmed receipt of a writ to appear before court Thursday.
He would not discuss details.
