Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, says he was happy with the performance of his team in the emphatic win over Madagascar in the opening game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ghana earned a convincing 3-0 win over the opponents with three second-half goals from Kudus Mohammed, Felix Afena-Gyan and Osman Bukari.
But for lack of efficiency in front of goal, the Black Stars could have scored more in the opening 45 minutes as they created quite a number of chances.
Addo declined to criticize his players for failing to capitalize on opportunities in the first half, claiming that he was delighted that the team was producing them in the first place.
He also commended the performance of the Madagascar goalkeeper as the rationale behind his side's scoreless run in the first half.
“Good goalkeeper, I didn’t count the number of shots on goal but he had some good saves. We created chances so I’m happy,” Addo said at the post-match press conference
“But this is football, not all shots will go in. In all, I was satisfied, even though it was 0-0, there was not much I could say. They just had to keep playing that way.”
Ghana goes top of Group E on goal difference after Angola also secured a 2-1 win over Central Africa Republic.
