Local Organising Committee (LOC) Chairman for the 2022 WAFU-B U17 Championship, Sammy Anim Addo is calling for financial support to help with the successful hosting of the event.
The tournament, which started on June 11 will last for 14 days at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The members tasked to ensure the smooth running of the competition are Robert Duncan (Central Region RFA Chairman), James Essilfie, and Simon Ehomah (Western Region RFA Chairman), all chaired by Samuel Addo Anim ( GFA Executive Council Member).
Joy Sports understands the LOC is struggling to squeeze water out of stone to ensure a good championship. They are imploring the government and corporate Ghana for assistance of at least 350,000 cedis to help support the organization.
"It is very difficult and we are really in that tight corner. We are in the situation where someone will say the economy [is hard] but I think as far as we approved and signed to CAF that we are ready to host. We must be ready to host so I am hoping the ministry will bring the support," Anim Addo told Joy Sports.
"I am hoping that corporate Ghana will support us. It is time to support the junior national team and the LOC to put up a good show because this tournament will sell Ghana in so many ways."
The tournament serves as the qualifiers for the next African U-17 Cup of Nations.
