Chief Justice, Kwasi Anin-Yeboah has urged judges and magistrates not to disturbed by their critics.
He said their duty is to dispense justice according to law and not criticisms.
“Yours is to dispense justice and to uphold the rule of law irrespective of public clamour,” the Chief Justice urged.
He made the call at the 2022 General Meeting of the Association of Magistrates and Judges.
Justice Anin-Yeboah also said even though the judiciary is not above criticism, they must however be constructive.
According to him, the country cannot progress without the institution.
“As the saying goes, you will not value what you have unless you lose it.
On this line, the consequence of losing what you have, in terms of our justice system, will be unthinkable,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Attorney General, Alfred Tuah-Yeboah at the same event blamed the media for the recent attacks on the judiciary.
According to him, the attacks are as a result of distorted coverage of court proceedings by some media firms.
He thus urged the media to collaborate with the judiciary to ensure fair reportage.
“This collaboration will undoubtedly ensure that accurate and fair information is made available to the consuming public.”
“Public perceptions of the judiciary are often coloured by misunderstandings of decisions and judgments of the court,” Mr. Tuah-Yeboah said.
