A Ghanaian hotelier, Nana Yaw, has lamented the impact of the rising inflation on his business.
Nana Yaw, who operates in the Eastern Region, said their businesses are suffering badly.
According to him, the prices of items they use in their business keep skyrocketing, making it difficult for them to remain in business.
Speaking on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM on Monday, October 17, he asked the government to curb the situation.
He insisted they will be compelled to close their businesses should the government not heed the call.
“The last time my water heater got spoilt, I went to look for one to buy. I bought a water heater early this year for ¢420 and today the water heater is going for ¢950. So if I have to change my water heater, then you can imagine what is happening to me. It is bad. Things have just gone so bad.
"The price of towels, bedsheets, cleaning agents, (and) pool chemicals that we use to treat our pool, have also gone up so high and you don't even know what to do,” he lamented.
The Ghanaian cedi exchanged for ¢12 to $1 in many places on Friday, selling at ¢12.10 at most forex bureaux or the retail market.
This development comes within a week after the cedi earlier depreciated against the dollar.
Meanwhile, scores of Ghanaians have taken to social media to bemoan the situation; urging the government to take urgent steps to address the persistent depreciation of the country’s currency.
