The Women's Organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Manso Adubia Constituency of the Ashanti Region has donated 420 school uniforms to schools in the area.
Ruth Osei delivered the uniforms to the District Education Directorate so they could be distributed to the schools.
One of the biggest obstacles impeding the academic progress of many schoolchildren in the area is a lack of school uniforms.

Due to their parent's inability to pay for their school supplies, including uniforms, many kids skip school every day.
Over time, the situation has had a significant negative impact on education in the Manso Adubia Area.
Ruth Osei, the NPP Women's Organizer in the Manso Adubia Constituency, worked with some people to stop the trend by donating about 420 school uniforms to the district's underprivileged children.
Ruth Osei stated that the action was taken to address the needs of vulnerable students and to improve the quality of education.

She urged charitable organizations to follow suit in order to promote academic excellence in the district.
"When I assumed office as the women Organizer in this Constituency, I went round to see what is really happening at the basic schools in the Constituency."
Ruth Osei said she found out that most of the students were not wearing uniforms. "So I took it upon myself with my fellow executives that we will look for support to cater for these students who are not having uniforms to enhance their academic development," she indicated.
Head of Finance and Administration at the District Education Directorate, Douglas Nyarko, who received the uniforms, commended her for her kindness and urged her to do more.
According to him, one of the barriers to successful academic activities in the district is a lack of social amenities such as adequate health care, potable water, and good roads.

Douglas Nyarko also mentioned the lack of teachers as another challenge attributing it to inadequate and poor infrastructure.
He said, "we don't have enough teachers due to certain infrastructural challenges such as the poor road network. Our road is very deplorable. So it's not motivating teachers to come here. When teachers get posted here the few ones that will come they wouldn't even stay for long because they see that their lives are often in danger and for that matter, they don't like accepting postings to this particular area."

Douglas appealed to government to fix the roads and also set up health facilities in the communities to motivate teachers to stay.
Ruth Osei coordinated a free breast cancer screening for women in Manso Adubia and Manso Datano, two communities in the Constituency.
For her, the goal is to ensure early detection and treatment to prevent additional breast cancer fatalities in the area.
