A teacher, Angela Misaa has provided school uniforms

The benevolent act of another female teacher has given much joy and hope to community folks at Bonkro near Nchiraa in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono region.

Out of her meagre monthly salary, Angela Misaa, has provided school uniforms for 33 kindergarten (KG) pupils of Bonkro Roman Catholic (RC) basic school where she teaches.

This follows a trail-blazing benevolence by Gifty Twumwaa, who had earlier this year used her monthly salary to paint the classroom blocks of her school, Wenchi SDA Basic ‘A’.

Speaking to JoyNews’ Nestor Kafui Adjomah after the presentation of the uniforms to the school children, Angela Misaa explained that her act was motivated by the inability of most parents to provide the basic needs for their children.

"I have taught here at Bonkro for five years and I realized that the place is a deprived area with mainly subsistence farmers.

Parents here are finding it difficult to provide their wards with school uniforms and other teaching and learning materials, so I thought it wise to provide the kids with these uniforms.

I think it will largely lessen the burden of parents providing basic needs of these children," Ms Misaa added.

The young female teacher intimated that she saw the pupils as her own children so she could not continue to watch them unkempt adding “that is why I have resolved to get them school uniforms and subsequently help with other needs even though I do not earn much”.

She, therefore, entreated her colleague teachers to join in making a difference in the lives of their pupils and students with their resources other than just the academic work.

Some of the KG pupils who benefited from the school uniform donation were much elated about the gesture.

They appealed to other individuals and the government to help fix the challenges including lack of textbooks and inadequate classroom desks militating against effective teaching and learning in their school.
