Multimedia Group journalist Erastus Asare-Donkor has won the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) President Special Award for his galamsey documentary, 'Destruction for Gold'.
Dr Daniel Kasser-Tee hailed the multiple award-winning for his bravery in bringing to the fore the story which has implications for the country's water bodies and environment in general.
The documentary production pricked the conscience of Ghanaian society on the impunity of illegal mining activities and the harm caused to the environment, especially water bodies.

It had a great impact on the populace, as many called for the application of the law for the seemingly untouchable individuals in power destroying farms and water bodies.
Erastus was lauded for having the "courage to venture where many have deaded, the zeal to question authority, consistency to fight the ills of society, the passion to protect the environment and was concerned by issues of sustainable development."

The CIMG President described the Joy News reporter's passion as the "true definition of patriotism, national spirit and altruism."
Erastus Asare-Donkor said the recognition will spur him on to do much more.
"It is good to be acknowledged, but it tells you more needs to be done and I am motivated to go beyond this," he said.
