The Catholic Bishop's Conference has elected Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi as its new President at the ongoing Plenary Assembly of the Conference at Donkorkrom in the Eastern region.
The new President who is the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani replaces Most Rev. Philip Naameh who served two consecutive terms of three years.
The 65-year-old priest was born on August 11, 1957, appointed a bishop in April 2003 and ordained as a bishop in June the same year.
The Conference has also elected Most Rev. Emmanuel Fianu of Ho as its new Vice President.
He replaces, Most Rev. Gabriel Charles Palmer Buckle, the Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Coast.
Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, S.V.D., the Bishop of the Diocese of Keta-Akatsi is now the head of Finance of the Conference.
