Musician, MzVee was emotional after taking a tour of Fort Prinzenstein, located in her hometown, Keta, in the Volta Region of Ghana.
The fort is the last of 32 to end the slave trade during the period of colonialism.
Well, on Christmas day, the musician decided to make a trip there to see for herself, how her forefathers were traded as slaves and then shipped to Europe and the Caribbean to work on cotton and sugar plantations.
Her visit was at the invitation of the Reddington Chalets, a tourism development firm located in the cultural town of Whuti in the Volta Region seeking to market the region’s tourism potential.
"So this year, I wanted to come to my hometown, my mom has told me so much about where she is from – she is from Woe and Whuti, you know side by side they are right in the same place so I decided to find a right spot and then a friend told me about Reddington Chalets.
"I came here and I do not regret it. My Christmas is completely different this time, its fun, its relaxing, beautiful people, the food is amazing and you know Voltarians and food so you can imagine".
