The search for potable water for the people of Benimase, a suburb of Konongo Municipal in the Asante Akim Central Constituency, had always been a nightmare.
This memory of bad drinking water has been expunged as KICK 2 BUILD organisation, an NGO commissioned a three mechanised borehole to lessen the water needs of the community.
Benimase, a gold-mining community, has been depending on streams as indiscriminate mining has also resulted in pollution.
“Most of these streams again, dry up during the dry season and so indigenes had to walk miles for another source of water from other streams,” said the chief of Benimase, Nana Ofosu Gyabour.
Nana Konadu Boakye, the founder and CEO of KICK 2 BUILD community organisation stated youth empowerment, community building and interdependence as the aim of the organisation.
“The organisation is poised to build the community and that, they should expect more,” he assured the residents.

Other programmes include ‘Light-up a Dream’ which looks at enriching individuals who couldn’t further their education into skill training and sporting activities. It is these programmes that birthed the idea of providing clean water supply to communities which Benimase is now a beneficiary.
The MP for the Asante Akim Central Constituency, Kwame Anyimadu Antwi commended the NGO for the kind gesture.
“I’d would like to thank the philanthropic work of the KICK 2 BUILD Community Organisation for having thought about the welfare of the Benimase community,” he said.
“More of these good works should be established in other communities and also Diasporans should come back to Ghana to help build our communities”.
He further admonished indigenes to cooperate with the unit committee to ensure proper maintenance of the boreholes.
