The Vice President of the United States of America (USA) Kamala Harris has said that the country is committed to strengthening its relationship with African countries.
Delivering an address at the Blackstar Square in Accra, Ghana, she said that the USA is expanding their partnerships in all sectors including with governments, private sectors, civil societies and many more.
“The United States of America is committed to strengthening our partnership - partnerships based on openness, inclusiveness, candour, shared interest and mutual benefit,” Kamala Harris stated on Tuesday.
She added that “to be clear, America will be guided not by what we can do for our African partners, but by what we can do with our African partners.”
The US Vice President indicated that the states across Africa and the USA together will address the many challenges they face while opening up incredible opportunities ahead.
She made the address on her final day in Ghana on her Africa tour.
Vice-President Kamala Harris started her nine-day trip in Ghana on Sunday, where she was greeted by drummers and dancers at Kotoka International Airport. She will later go to Tanzania and Zambia.
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris believes that through investment and innovation, the USA and Africa can create great opportunities that will help strengthen the relationship between the continent and the USA.
“Innovation results in one's ability not only to see but do things differently. We innovate to be more effective and to solve problems. Innovation has come about by challenging the premise, questioning the status quo and bold thinking.”
“So to the young leaders here today, you by your very nature are dreamers and innovators and so to you, I say it is your spark, your creativity and your determination that will drive the future and with that then African ideas and innovations will shape the future of the world.”
