Ghana’s Isaac Dogboe is still hopeful of winning another world title at the end of the year despite defeat to Robeisy Ramirez in the early hours of Sunday, April 2.
Dogboe and Ramirez went toe-to-toe for the vacant WBO featherweight title in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, in what was more of a one-sided fight.
The Cuban dominated the Ghanaian from the very beginning of the bout on Sunday and gave him no chance of coming back into the fight.
The loss was Dogboe’s third in 27 fights, resulting it in another failed attempt to clinch yet another world title having won the WBO super-bantamweight title in 2018.
However, the 28-year-old is still hopeful of achieving a second world title by close of 2023.
“Obviously, I am still highly rated within the WBO and the WBC. So, all is not lost. Like I said, I just have to get back on the drawing board. I spoke to one of the top guys at Top Rank [Promotions] and we are looking, when God permits, at the end of the year,” he said following the defeat to Robeisy.
Following 12 rounds of action, the judges were unanimous in their decision, scoring it 117-110, 118-109, 119-108 all in favour of the Cuban, who now claims the vacant WBO featherweight title.
Relive the fight, round-by-round through this thread from our reporter Nathaniel Attoh, who was ringside in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
