Ghana FA General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo, says the FA will leave no stone unturned in their preparations to ensure the Black Meteors qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Ghana's U23s have not made an Olympic appearance since last doing so in 2004, and the U23 Afcon to be hosted by Morocco presents the team a chance to return to the multisport event.
Ibrahim Tanko, head coach of the Meteros, achieved qualification to AFCON 2023 after beating Algeria over two legs in the final qualification round.
Three automatic Paris 2024 qualification spots will be up for grabs from the competition which starts in June, while a fourth is available through a playoff game.
But the GFA have targeted a direct qualification route and have committed to ensuring the Meteors are ready before kickoff in North Africa.
"Three full slots are available for the Olympics, and the other is the 50/50 slot, so we want to take one of the slots for the Olympic Games," Harrison Addo said after indicating: "the quest is to qualify for the Paris Olympic Games next year, so the technical team, the FA and everybody is geared up, in terms of the preparations to ensure that we present a good team.
“We want to give them good preparations so they are in the position to be compete with the rest of Africa in terms of the other teams that will come for the tournament."
Ghana will be in Pot 1 for the group stage draw and could face either hosts, Morocco or title holders, Egypt.
Two of Gabon, Congo, Guinea and Niger will complete Ghana's group for the competition.
