Residents of Fante New Town, Nyame Bekyere, New Ankasa, Awia-Futu Junction, among others in the Jomoro constituency of the Western Region now have access to portable water.
Residents say they have been fetching water from a dug out well at dawn which sometimes lead to injuries and other challenges.
Pupils walk several kilometres to fetch water from these wells before they attend schools which result to lateness to school on daily basis.
This came to light during a commissioning of the one of the mechanised boreholes at Fante New Town which were constructed by the Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey.
The project in Fante New Town is one out of the ten completed mechanised boreholes for the residents in the Jomoro Constituency.

The Odikro of Fante New Town, Job Pintil was optimistic the MP will do more for them to enable them vote for her in the next elections.
He also appealed to the MP to construct the only road in the area for them since they suffer commuting on the road.
The MP, Dorcas Affo-Toffey explained that she was touched to do the project base on the request from the inhabitants when she went for campaign.
She said water is life and so she took it upon herself to ensure the speedy execution of the project to save lives.
Asked on the cost of the project, the MP explained that even though she would not disclose the cost of one mechanised borehole or the entire ten in other communities, a lot of money has gone in.
Madam Affo-Toffey called on the residents to maintain the borehole because it is the source of livelihood.
