Samuel Ampadu Kyei aka Kyikyis started the competition on a bright note for the home club as he defeated John K of VRA 7-2.
This was followed by a superb display from Tule Adongo and Thomas Effah who all won their games for the host club in the singles.
The away team fought back as Alin Kobby put some smiles on their faces winning 7-3 against Samuel Gyakye of the host club.
The 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis team continued their dominance in the doubles event as they whipped their counterparts by 6-1, with the likes of Nana Sei Nsiah Ababio aka Oleke, Samuel Ampadu Kyei, Samuel Taylor, Robert Tetteh, Thomas Gyakye and the likes all winning their games.
Speaking after the tournament, President of the 4 Garrison Tennis Club Benjamin Brayie Adusei expressed his delight by the overwhelming result recorded by his club over their rivals.
“It’s been an awesome tournament, last year they were here and it was very close. We went there in November and that too was close and to have played them this year and beaten them 9-2 I really don’t know what happened. I guess we were very determined to host and win. I’m very happy we beat them soundly."
Touching on the growth of Tennis in the region, Benjamin Brayie said he is impressed at how the game is catching up amongst both the youth and old.
"You came here and saw the number of people who came to watch and also play, it shows that the game of tennis is gradually developing. I hope that tournaments like this will encourage people to take part in the sport."
The 4 Garrison Officer Mess Tennis Club is expected to travel to Akosombo later in the year for the return encounter.
