Burna Boy’s longstanding admiration for the legendary Fela Kuti is no more a secret. It is safe to say that, Burna Boy would’ve easily been Fela’s protégé, had the latter been alive.
Burna Boy’s music style, lyricism, stage performances, Afrocentric influence and more, are proof that he draws lots of inspiration from Nigerian legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
The feature below by Joy News’ Joojo Cobbinah and Lois Shola Adeyemi shows three times Burna Boy sampled Fela Kuti’s ‘Sorrow, Tears and Blood’.
Voiceover by Joy FM’s Kofi Hayford and edited by James Abbey of Joy News.
