About 70 Military officers from the 6th Infantry Battalion, Kamina Barracks in Tamale, have ended a four-week course on skills enhancement in mitigating threats of violent extremism in Tamale in the Northern Region.
The exercise was aimed at enhancing the capacity of troops to mitigate the threats of violent extremism among others.

The training covered areas such as small unit tactics, weapons training, fighting in built-up areas (FIBUA), first aid, and advanced workmanship with participants from all units under the Northern Command and the Ghana Air Force Base in Tamale.
In his closing remarks, the Command Operations Officer, Colonel FWK Agbebo on behalf of the General Officer Commanding Northern Command, Brigadier General M. Essen expressed satisfaction with the level of enthusiasm exhibited by participants during the session.

He said there has been an improvement in the course since its inception.
"I strongly believe that this particular training has achieved the aim of enhancing your capacity to mitigate the threats of violent extremism".
He said the topics for the courses were carefully selected to address the prevailing threats faced by the Ghana Armed Forces.

On his part, the Leader of the 2SFAB team, Captain J. Cejka commended staff of the Headquarters Northern Command for their support stating that the training was much rewarding, "and participants were also committed, dedicated and disciplined for success".
The Captain later urged officers to make use of the knowledge acquired in their various units and incorporate them into their training.

The Fifth Edition Non-Commissioned Officers'/Manoevre leadership course was organised by the 2nd Security Forces Assistance Brigade (2SFAB) of the US Army for troops of the Northern Command.
