Leader and Founder of the Calvary Charismatic Church (CCC), Rev. Ransford Obeng, has called on the government to increase investments into the National Health Insurance Scheme for efficiency in service delivery.
According to him, making huge investments in the scheme can ensure its sustainability and effectiveness.
“We must achieve our goal by ensuring that we have invested so much into this scheme. This is no ordinary policy, and to achieve its purpose, we should make investments for sustainability and effectiveness” he said.
Speaking to JoyNews on June 15, Rev Obeng explained that enrollment and access to quality health service delivery are impeded by low investment in the scheme.
On the back of this, the church is paying the premium of 1,000 children and mothers in the Ayigya community in Kumasi under the church’s mass NHIS enrollment programme.
Some beneficiaries of CCC’s mass NHIS enrollment were grateful for the intervention.

Rev Obeng appealed to the government to cut down on administrative cost to fund the scheme.
“The government should be cutting down on some administrative costs to fund the NHIS scheme” he added.
The National Health Insurance Scheme is a social intervention programme introduced by the government to provide financial access to quality health care.
The scheme is largely funded by the National Health Insurance Levy, which is a 2.5% levy on goods and services collected under the Value Added Tax.
