OA Pay, a money transfer company that allows diasporans to send money back home has successfully refurbished and handed over the maternity ward of the Kaneshie Polyclinic.
The handing over was done on Thursday, July 13, at the facility.
Present were officials of the company and staff of the health facility.
Speaking to the media, the Head of Corporate Social Responsibility and Girl Child at the OA Pay, Ms Rheena Tahiri explained the motive behind the gesture.
According to her, OA Pay cares much about women and children which is the reason why they could not decline the request to refurbish the ward.
“The founder and CEO of the company is a Ghanaian woman and feels strongly about supporting the community especially women and children, and we all believe in the saying that if you educate a woman, you educate an entire community and the nation as a whole. So, I guess that is why we came to the aid of the Polyclinic.”
Ms Juliet Konadu, a Customer Service Executive of OA Pay said they will continue to offer more assistance to the facility.
“We came and saw that the Kaneshie Polyclinic shares in the mission and vision that OA Pay has, and that was the starting point.”
“The facility already existed and we just refurbished it and added a few equipment to make it conducive for use.”
The Specialist in charge of Kaneshie Polyclinic, Dr Stella Gyamfi, who could not hide her excitement for the gesture thanked OA Pay and asked them to do more for the facility.
“We are so happy about this gesture and it couldn’t have come at any better time than now. So, we want to thank OA Pay, and we will request of them to keep coming back to us because we need more assistance.”
