The corpse of a US-born Ghanaian has been found in his apartment at Takoradi.

Reports say he must have been dead for at least two weeks and could only be traced by a stench emanating from his room.

Upon breaking into his room and having traced the stench, his landlord and residents discovered his decomposing body surrounded by a multitude of houseflies.  

The deceased, Anthony Wolfgang Hammond’s relatives have still not been found, for which reason there has been a request made to the Takoradi Government Hospital to keep the body for a while, according to the Assembly member of the area, Joana Barton Oduro.

“His landlord broke into the room and realized he was dead. We quickly called the police and deposited his body at the Takoradi Government Hospital.

"We are supposed to bury the body looking at its decomposing nature but we have still not identified his relatives and so we have pleased with the hospital to help us keep the body for some time whilst we keep searching for his family members, said Madam Barton Oduro.

Further search into his apartment revealed documents on his identity. According to the assembly member, “his phone has been switched on but nobody has called him since and all the contacts we have seen don’t relate to any close friend or relative.”

A name cited on his Ghana Card registration sheet seems to be that of his mother’s but the document also revealed his parents are late.

Anthony was introverted and was never seen with relatives and friends since he rented his 3-bedroom apartment, lasting three years, Madam Barton Oduro added.
