The Dagbang Students’ Association (DASA) has staged a cultural event in Kumasi as a rallying point to unveil the ties of unity among the various ethnic groups in the regions of the north.
Organisers say it has become imperative for students to lead in peace building, especially among Dagombas and Kokombas, to end mutual mistrust that lead to conflicts.
The DASA cultural event was held at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) in Kumasi.

The beauty of culture and tradition was at its best as students from the regions of the north displayed their rich and unique characteristics as a people with common heritage and destiny.

The DASA Wulana, assistant to the Chief of DASA, Umar Mahama, told JoyNews the university campus offers a good space to foster unity among the people.
“As we are here on campus, we have been engaging people in our programmes just to bring the unity and peace among ourselves and also extending helping hands to them when they need us. We are students and we are using our knowledge that we are learning here to promote peace building among ourselves, so that we can take it back home and educate our people on it,” he stated.

Some members of the Dagbang Students’ Association and other tribe associates shared the joy of celebrating their oneness on campus.
“We are here as students and are excited to have this celebration to shun conflict and promote unity in development,” said Hawa.
